To get up to speed on this issue, please read the first installment of this saga - Fire Chief Golfing on Resident’s Dime
Yesterday I received this certified letter from The Woodlands Fire Department (WFD). In the letter the WFD continues to argue that “golfing transactions” do not include membership dues. This is the second letter I have received in response to my initial request for, “a copy of all itemized bills, receipts, invoices, and statements associated with Alan Benson’s transactions related to golfing for the year…” The years requested were 2005, 2006 and 2007. Please note: even after two replies in which the WFD admits they have the information requested, they have yet to actually provide any information responsive to the initial request.
After receiving the initial response to my request, in which no documents were provided, I filed a complaint with the Office of the Texas Attorney General. Yesterday, I received this response from Ms. Kay Hastings, Assistant Attorney General.
The response states that it appears there are documents responsive to the initial request and the easiest way to resolve the issue is to release the requested documents.
The WFD can now release the requested documents or spend more resident money to fight the release of public information.
Which option will the WFD choose?
Stay tuned for more………
