The Woodlands Fire Department responded to a fire at Tinseltown Theaters Sunday evening at around 7:30 pm. Firefighters arrived to find a small fire in the boy's bathroom. The fire did approximately $5000.00 in damages to the bathroom. Montgomery County Fire Marshal Investigator Robert Carnes responded to investigate the cause of the fire and determined that the fire was intentionally set. While there are no suspects in this fire, it is most likely the work of juveniles or teenagers.
Because this fire was in a "place of assembly" it is classified as a 1st degree Felony punishable by 5 to 99 years in prison and a $10,000.00 fine.
"A fire in a crowded movie theater could have very easily had tragic results if it had grown in size and gotten out of control", says Arson Investigator Robert Carnes. "We are asking the public to come forth with any information on this incident".
