Mr. Norrell gave a presentation about events that have happened during the course of the year. Items included park openings, talk of a new fire station 6(it is interesting that they no longer mention Harpers Landing when talking about fire station 6 - I guess they have written Harpers Landing off) and talk about how good the communications are among the residents and the Woodlands Community Association. He mentioned the various ways that residents can communicate with the association, including communicating through their web-site in various ways. He also mentioned that you could just pick up the phone and call them. Been there, done that, it did not work(see this).
A large number of people turned out for this meeting. Apparently, the Mayor White marketing plan brought in many more people than would normally attend. I am not quite for sure why a large number of people showed up to see Mayor White. He basically offered nothing but general advice, and one of the things he said was that he was not for sure what he was supposed to talk about. He also commented that he really had nothing specific to offer about the governance issue(7:40)*. Was I the only one not surprised by this? It was disappointing that all the “sheeple” in the room stood up and applauded when Mayor White stated that he thought the residents of The Woodlands should be able determine how The Woodlands is going to be governed(10:05)*. Most politicians will tell you what they know you want to hear. He mentions a postcard(10:30)* in his speech. View the postcard(postcard front, postcard back) and then listen to his comments about it. Also listen to the giggles when he mentions the postcard and form your own opinions. The rest of his speech was a basic pep talk.
After Mayor White’s speech, the meeting continued with the new members of the board being introduced. A new board president was put in place as well as a few other officers. Read this article about the board reshuffle.
I suggest that you listen to the speech for yourself and form your own opinions.
