Deputy Fire Chief?

I was browsing around on the web yesterday and I came across this interesting piece of information.

http://www.ci.sanford.fl.us/xcityman.html

Take a look at the description for Kristi Aday. WOW! She was a Deputy Fire Chief while she was employed by The Woodlands? As far as I can tell before she was Deputy Fire Chief in The Woodlands, she had zero fire service experience. I can only conclude that:

  1. The current leadership at The Woodlands Fire Department hires Deputy Fire Chiefs with no experience on a routine basis? or
  2. The current leadership at The Woodlands Fire Department does not normally hire Deputy Fire Chiefs with no experience, but made an exception in this case? If this is the situation, I wonder what the special circumstances or relationships were? or
  3. Ms. Aday embellished her qualifications to a fictional level?

A few questions come to mind.

Is this standard operating procedure for the current leadership in The Woodlands Fire Department?

Was the board aware of, or did they approve this maneuver?

Anyone who can shed any additional light on this matter please post in the forums or please add a comment to this blog.

Please post any info you think is relevant

My guess is that option #2 is correct and that she was allowed to be Deputy Fire Chief so she could “pad” her resume.

I would suspect that Benson got something in return :) wink wink
